My name is Corporal Gareth Smith and I am a serving member
of the British Royal Air Force. I am also a Nijmegen team member from Royal Air
Force Halton which completed the marches this year 2004. The Nijmegen Marches
takes place in Holland every year and is one of the world’s largest walking
events totalling 25 miles a day on concrete for four straight days (100 miles
total). For the military contingents it involves marching in full military
uniform wearing a weighted pack. We gained product sponsorship from Squeaky
Cheeks which generously donated the team three pouches of Squeaky Cheeks powder
to be used on the marches. The team found the powder an indispensable part of
our equipment. At some points we were marching in temperatures of 39°C. Without
this powder we would have found the event so much harder, if not impossible.
It not only kept our feet bone dry (even in military issue boots) but also put a
stop to any potential chaffing. It is without doubt the best product I have ever used.
I cannot recommend Squeaky cheeks highly enough; their company policy of “Funny name:
Serious comfort” is not an exaggeration, their product not only helped our team complete
the Nijmegen marches and win the Best Royal Air Force Team award, but also raised a
significant amount for our charity Iain Rennies Children’s Hospice in Tring. Myself
and another member of the team used Squeaky Cheeks whilst walking Hadrian’s Wall
(84 miles in four days) and yet again it came up trumps. Once again I would like
to thank Squeaky Cheeks for their support and would highly recommend them to all
potential customers for their professionalism, speed, quality and reliability.
Many thanks Cpl Gareth Smith (Royal Air Force Halton)
